Sustainability rooted in our way of working
Pollfoss Boutique Hotel & Spa is situated in a place where nature and tradition have always been closely intertwined. That connection still forms the basis of how we develop and manage the hotel.
Sustainability at Pollfoss is not a standalone project, but a gradual renewal of what was already there: with respect for the environment and an eye to the future.
Investing in energy and comfort
In recent years, we have made targeted investments in modernizing our technical installations, while preserving the character of the hotel:
- installation of new heat pumps for more efficient energy use
- renewal of water heating systems
- replacement of single glazing with insulating double glazing
These steps ensure lower energy consumption and greater comfort for our guests, without compromising the appearance of the historic building.
Private water source
Pollfoss uses water from its own local source. This aligns with the hotel's location in a clean and natural environment and reduces dependence on external supply.
Conscious purchasing choices
Our approach also extends to the kitchen and daily operations. Wherever possible, we work with local and regional suppliers so that we can use ingredients from the immediate surroundings and strengthen our ties with the region. Additionally, we consciously opt for shorter supply chains to limit transport and reduce our impact.
Less disposable, more conscious use
In the hotel, we have significantly reduced the use of disposable items. Wherever possible, we opt for reusable or more sustainable alternatives, both in rooms and in common areas.
Moving forward with respect for the place
Every step we take is aimed at the same principle: further developing Pollfoss without losing the character of the place. Nature, the surroundings, and the history of the hotel remain the guiding principles.
